System Notice ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: SPENT IT ALL IN ONE PLACE. FIRST CRAWLER IN SEASON 3 TO USE AN ITEM. ITEMS USED BEFORE HER: 0.
For four weeks the System has been asking. Every crawler in the Dungeon has been sitting on their loot like it was a lottery ticket. Then on Wednesday, two minutes before the deadline, while lying down, Kayla sent two declarations and became the first.
She did not explain. The towel had been on the armrest since the Lobby. The rose had been standing in a glass of swamp water since Week 2, neither wilting further nor recovering. On Wednesday she picked up the rose, looked at it for a moment, and held it out to the System.
The System did not know what to do with it. The System is still holding it.
Then her opponent arrived. Mike. The bear. He walked through the reeds, across the swamp, up the dry rise, and stopped at the edge of the couch. Last week the System wondered whether a couch counts as a door.
It does not. Mike sat down on the other end of it.
They watched an episode together. Nobody spoke. On the screen a man was asked to leave the villa. Kayla nodded. Mike nodded. It was, the System believes, the most peaceful matchup in the history of the Dungeon.
190.9 to 172.7. Kayla by 18.2.
System Notice LOOT DROP: SWAMP-PROOFED REMOTE CONTROL. TIER: COMMON. EFFECT: +2 PTS IN ONE WEEK OF HER CHOOSING, DECLARED BY WEDNESDAY NOON. SEALED IN A SANDWICH BAG. EVERY BUTTON WORKS. SHE HAS ONLY EVER PRESSED ONE OF THEM.
She pressed it. The next episode started.
3-1. Fourth in the Dungeon. Still horizontal.
Week 5: Kelsey, who lost by 0.4 last week with three unused items in her bag. Kayla used both of hers. The System suspects Kelsey has noticed.
